Establishing healthy relationships as an adult is one of the hardest things we can do
It’s especially difficult when you feel inadequate, or even unlovable in some way.
As we navigate adult relationships for the first time in our 20s and 30s, these feelings can become more pronounced. Experiencing rejection in dating or friendships growing distant can trigger these feelings, making you question your worth.
Feeling seen, accepted, and loved is a core human need. And yet so many of us did not have these needs met growing up, leading to feelings of unworthiness, depression, or difficulty trusting others.
These feelings can make it hard to experience deep connection with others. Whether you are still searching for a partner to build a future with, or are already in a relationship, you know it’s time to heal the old wounds that keep getting in your way.
Therapy offers a space to look inward in the presence of another
Together we will explore how your upbringing and family relationships have created the templates for your present-day relationships. Often times we find ourselves stuck in frustrating patterns that served a purpose in the past, but hinder us in the present. My approach is grounded in the belief that the relationship we co-create in therapy is the vehicle for healing and change, and can serve as a testing ground to help you experience different ways of relating.
As a trauma-informed therapist, I am also attuned to how emotions live in the body, and how old childhood wounds can get triggered in the present. We will help you process feelings that weren’t safe to feel before. We will make space to understand how you were shaped by the community where you grew up and aspects of identity like race, gender, and sexual orientation. Through the process of allowing yourself to be fully seen, you open the door to a sense of deeper self-acceptance and connection with others.
